Students Share Their Croatian Language Learning Journey: And Explore Osor!
We are delighted to welcome Sarah back to Lošinj. Last year she came for a week’s intensive course to begin learning Croatian and followed that up with regular online lessons during the year.
This summer Sarah decided to return to Lošinj to take another intensive tailor-made language programme to build on the great progress she has already made in the language. This time our focus was on speaking skills and grammatical accuracy, and now Sarah can speak Croatian with her Croatian family and friends with much greater confidence.

Apart from working really hard, there is also time to explore, and here we see Sarah with her teacher, Linda, in Osor, about 13 km from Ćunski, the location of our summer school.
Just as impressive, perhaps, is the remarkable collection of statues dotted around the streets, squares and gardens, many depicting musicians. These illustrate Osor’s strong musical connections and, in particular, its famous Osor Musical Evenings festival. The festival attracts internationally renowned performers and continues a tradition that dates back to 1976.
In 2026, the 51st Osor Musical Evenings will run from 20 July to 23 August. The programme features artists including violinist Stefan Milenković, pianist Alexander Gadjiev, the vocal ensemble VOCES8 and the celebrated Croatian pianist Ivo Pogorelić.
